perché amo Vogue Italia

To me the Vogue Italia is extremely appealing( I might even say my favorite). Sophistication, drama, culture, History...(The roman empire, to name one)
They are the other voice, a clear soft one that stands out of a staccato chaotic world of noise. They don't really do the whole rock 'n roll thing that still dominates most magazine's.(the Carine Roitfeld look)
Also not really the screaming 80's a la Marc Jacobs. But pure drama. Dark dramatic colors, not only black! Earth tones, the nomadic feel, old money, faded memory's, theater, baroque, pierrots, clochards, of course lot's of 80's inspiration but they seem to take the path less chosen.Less screaming but in the process the outcome mature but absolutely not without humor. The Steven Meisel shoot :Performance.Oliver Twist grown up,drunk hanging out with dubious Madame's. It could have gone very very wrong, it could have been tacky, horrible...But, because of the humor and fun that exceeds from the pages, I find it brilliant! (The Tim Walker shoot: A play of dots is grand too!) And that is something the Italian Vogue does best. Use elements that are scary, in the sense that a monster could be created with the wrong alchemist mixing them. But with their staff of powerful sorcerers they make moda magic!

Included in the September issue is the Vogue talents gazette. educational and great!
An overview of the most talented fashion graduates and young designers. So necessary! And interesting! And not to say the least..easy! Such a great update for those among us that (I have to say it again) don't feel like spending their entire lives behind the Mac.(Only maybe big parts of it ;-)

If this all seems much, there's the Vogue Italia Couture publication as well! How they spoil us!!!
I'm not a big fan of Rihanna, to be honest it kinda irritates me that she has to dress "fierce". She has all the right garments and a not too bad stylist but she still looks tacky and (the lovely dutch expression) "behind the facts".
She's not a trend setter how a lot of the magazine's portray her. C'mon man, I know a lot of kids that do/did the similar thing but on a lower budget and 2 or 3 years ago..Enfin...I got side trailed.. What I wanted to say was on a much more positive note!
I love the shoot that Steven klein shot with her! Styling is impeccable! Rihanna looks not half bad in most pictures...The light make-up makes her face softer and in my opinion that makes her almost look like a good model.(I mean she's a beautiful girl, but that's something else then being a model.)

The Paolo Roversi Shoot:A dream of a dress..The hair is extremely big and beautiful.Very well executed! Wouldn't be surprised to see lady GaGa rocking one of the do's. Our dutch pride Ymre Stiekema is featured(among others and the dutch Anna as well), I actually shot one of her first test shoot back in the day.

In other words, If you don't have it...Go get it before the month is over!!!
